We can't expect everyone to have teams, and messaging to devices using SMS would be really helpful. We are isolating ourselves from a large population of potential users that will not receive a teams message because they have not downloaded the app.
If anyone here has been tracking this, whether you have SMS messaging or not, I would ask that you review my new idea for an entirely new and dedicated app strictly for phone stuff: calling, texting, voicemail.

Kindly explain to us the difference between the two services that would justify not only a delay, but an entirely different silo of effort... I'm once again disappointed that a 50 billion dollar company cannot run these efforts in parallel, assuming parallelism is necessary and not just a product of your bloated organization.
Again, this should have been Priority #2 behind calling, and there is absolutely no reason why this solution should not have API integrations to support ANY carrier.
No excuses, we want technical explanations that we can take to our clients to instill confidence in us, and in many cases restore confidence that has already been lost. If we are left to our own assumptions, the only conclusion is your are deliberately delaying this effort to appease bigger clients - thus you have some level of distain towards small businesses.
Once again, prove me wrong.

Hi Paul Marra. This feature is going to be available for Webex Calling customers. No plan for Webex for BroadWorks at the moment.

Seongho Hong. Is this functionality going to be available for Webex for Broadworks providers or just Webex Calling customers?

Two years folks... TWO ... not one, but double that - as in 2. The pandemic is over, we expect better from a 50 billion dollar company.
Can someone at Cisco kindly provide feedback as to why there is absolutely no official comment on this? Two years sitting on an idea board tells me that either you don't check the boards at all, or you don't clean up your boards from requests that you will not fulfill... change my mind.
In either case, you are failing here... to the extent at which you have duplicate requests filling the board. https://ciscocollabcustomer.ideas.aha.io/ideas/WXCUST-I-10753
Kindly let us know what other priorities you have put in place above this most basic of communication technologies... as others have already pointed out, literally EVERY one of your competitors is already doing this... Let me guess, we need Elon to buy Cisco to get attention on the glaring hole in your solution?

Cisco, please add this functionality. I'm losing customers to Zoom due to the lack of this fundamental feature. Many people prefer to text and not share their cell phone numbers so that business remains in the company when an employee leaves.

There should be full SMS and MMS functionality for webex cloud calling users available from the webex desktop and mobile apps. It's absurd this is not already supported given all major competitors (RingCentral, Zoom Phone, 8x8, Mitel Cloud etc) offer it standard. In any modern company that deals with clients e.g. consulting, marketing, legal, there are many reasons why being able to text to/from your business number is important. Step up cisco!

There should also be support for MMS, which will enable transmission of media as well as group messaging. My opinion is that Cisco should add functions to their API that will enable service providers to gateway their SMS/MMS to/from WebEx.
