Prevent Duplicate Extension Assignments

The System should prevent assigning duplicate extensions anywhere in the environment. Today it allows you to create a Virtual Extension and a user with the same extension.

After testing this out, it appears that the system does validate that an extension must be unique within a location (for a virtual extension). If this is not the case with your specific organization, then you may want to open a support ticket.

However, in case there is some confusion: extensions must be unique within the location, but you can have duplicate extensions across the organization. Uniqueness, in these cases, can be differentiated by the location routing prefix. Virtual extensions also allow for enterprise-level extensions, which are not validated at the location level.
