In the newest version of webex 40.10.5.4, when the host unmutes the attendees, the attendees receive a pop up window to reject or approve the request.
Moderated Unmute is now a reality. This should be marked "Already Exists"

Teachers really need access to this feature, for students of all ages. "Privacy" isn't really in play if the students and their families have signed on for remote learning and for months now this feature has been the norm. If you're going to make sweeping changes, please save these for summer months, publish change logs and let users know about new and deprecated or updated features. Need this back ASAP.

Check out the "moderated unmute" feature being released in February.

Maybe offer the ability to arrange to un-mute presenters and not all participants in case they forget to un-mute when it's their turn to speak. Often.. they don't see the nudge.
Say may be a way to select all presenters at the beginning sending them a message stating that you're asking their permission to un-mute them in advance. Leave the participants set to the nudge.
At least worth consideration in respect to privacy.

I shared Jarek's sentiments: we are also using Webex for church gatherings with senior citizens; getting them to unmute themselves is a challenge.
Please allow admin of the site to permit direct unmuting.

We using WEBEX in Religious gathering for elder peolpe and there is no way to expect that some of elder participants to do unmuting conformation.
The only reason we opted for webex was that it allowed hosts to unmute participants freely.
Lacking of this option pushing us to change Meeting solution for Covid time :-(

Privacy is very important but nowaday in the use cases should be considered also learning usage not only business meetings, and the new limit on the unmute is very disruptive in teaching and learning scenario (we are a University with over 32.000 students, but I think that similar problems are reported by many other representative of every level of instruction sectors). So please roll back on unmute feature or (better) offer a two level setting on microphone (and camera) privacy: level 1 (default) = leave free access to the devices to the host (mute/unmute mic, enable/disable cam), level 2 = protect my privacy, devices can be enabled only by me.
And please consider learning and teaching in your use cases!

Are there any updates to a solution for this? It's the second week of Webex being completely unusable for people with disabilities who attend our meetings. Teachers and therapists have are overwhelmed enough right now with virtual learning and this feature is such a deal breaker.

This so called update has been a huge backward step

Just add a turn on/off button for this feature! but please do it soon. It messing up our meetings. We want the host and co host to control the microphone of the attendees.

We have moved all OSD to a screen that is seen, so our participants don't even see the prompt to unmute. Additionally the OSD text has *6 on a codec where you need to press *6# for this work.

Please change the mute feature to a moderated mute so that students can be unmuted without a teacher sending a request and waiting for them to accept. It will decrease the time teachers need to spend on technology support and will increase their time that they can spend on instruction.

This feature is painful even from an enterprise perspective. I get the privacy part where you don't want to open a mic for someone who is unaware, but it is challenging to be a host who doesn't have the full ability to control the audio flow of your meeting.

We need this functionality too!

You can request to roll back this feature until it is corrected. Your Cisco CSM can put in a provisioning ticket. It usually takes a few hours and you are back to normal.

Hello,
We using WEBEX in Kindergarten teaching and there is no way to expect little children to do unmuting conformation.
I would like to ask if its possible to have option on the Meeting to set UNMUTE rights to HOST and then have everyone entering meeting to give consent.
This way the privacy can be kept for people who doesn't want to participate in meeting with full UNMUTE rights of HOST, while in meetings for education - like people with disabiltiies and children can the HOST have full control over the mute/unmute options of the participants.

We use webex for education purpose. Small children are unable to unmute themselves.
Post this upgrade, my classes have become horrible with lot of background noise and it impacts our ability to conduct classes properly and the reputation of our school.
Please come up with a version of webex for education where you can continue to allow hosts to unmute participants.
The only reason we opted for webex was that it allowed hosts to unmute participants.

I have a student who is visually impaired. He cannot even see his device to click the pop up to unmute himself. I appreciate the ability to lock all on mute, but need the option to unmute myself without having the pop up for the user to confirm on the other end.

This is also a matter of ADA accessibility. I have a blind student in my remote 6th grade class. I have to unmute him so he can respond to questions. Please remove this feature.
