STOP changing Host keys every day

Having the Host Key change every single day is a HUGE disruption to our business. We have hundreds of week-long classes that run and having to send each instructor a new Host key every day is UNACCEPTABLE. This is a terrible idea. Please change this back immediately.

    Admin response

Host Key Rotation was introduced as a security feature in 40.10
Whilst we do not encourage it, host key rotation can be disabled for your webex site
Please open a service request/TAC case if you wish to disable this feature

Could you please provide some details around what type of meeting you are scheduling, where are you scheduling the meeting from, and are you using recurring meetings and creating exceptions to the recurring meeting?

The change in host keys every day is a huge nuissance and a business impediment issue. Given the constant changes we also do need at least a notification to the host and cohosts whenever the host key change so the host is alerted to the change and doesn't wait to hear from the meeting attendants that the key provided doesn't work. The notification can sent out to the host and cohost emails.

I concur with the idea and concerns noted regarding Host Key Rotation being a cumbersome feature within Webex Meetings. My team sets up 30 to 50 Webex Meetings each quarter as training sessions through People & Communities / Grow & Learn. The sessions that span across multiple days require detailed management of Host Key Rotation. Keeping one Host Key for the entire Webex Meeting spanning multiple days is preferred. We schedule recurring meetings, for the length of the training, through MS Outlook and through cisco.webex.com.

The staff at Cisco who schedule training which we deliver will be able to assist with this. I have altered them to your question but you may be best to contact the L&D Team at Cisco?

I agree with this. I understand then need on new meetings, but for a reoccuring it makes no sence and should NOT be a standard or at least should be added to the administration screen to allow each site set thier own preferances.

If this feature is to be implemented, please only make it optional, as it is important to our organization.

I agree. This is definitely a mess. We have a lot of classes as well and multiple accounts. Yet the host keys still change every single day for recurring classes. It is a huge inconvenience for co-hosts.

It is not reasonable to have host accounts for employees who only schedule once a quarter at best. I have 100 engineers, the work projects and may go a year without the need of a meeting. Then they may need a recurring meeting for a couple months and done. It makes no sense to give them an account, yet they need to host their meeting. Please address this issue.

We need it for external trainers who do are not part of our organization. Please make it optional.

This feature is terrible! It disrupts so many work flows, doing more harm than help!

Our business is losing a minimum of 10 weekly hours on host key regeneration which obviously significantly impacts productivity. Already I'm in avoidance mode and choosing another virtual platform where possible so that I no longer have the host key problem.

This is annoying feature... was never there earlier. Admins should have the ability to control whether host keys should be changed or not. Heightened security sometimes become annoying.

This breaks so many processes. It should be an option.
