User Tagging and Direct Linking in Webex Chat Conversations

Currently, there is no built-in function that allows one to directly reference or link a Webex user. If implemented, this feature would provide the ability to tag a colleague in a conversation, thereby providing a direct link to their profile or initiating a new chat. This would make it more convenient to direct conversation participants to a specific colleague for assistance or collaboration.

Example: In a 1:1 conversation, a user could say - "Hey, if you need help talk with this guy @cealves. He can help you with that issue."

This would directly link to 'cealves' profile, allowing for a seamless continuation of the conversation or problem-solving process.

I'm leaving an example of a possible user story for this feature request.

User Story

As a Webex user, I want to be able to reference other Webex users in chat conversations, so that I can easily link to them and initiate conversations or view their profiles.

Acceptance Criteria

  • The user should be able to reference other Webex users by typing their @username into the chat window.

  • When a user types an @username, the system should automatically suggest a list of matching users.

  • When the user selects a user from the suggestion list, the system should automatically insert a link to that user's profile into the chat window.

  • The user should be able to click on the link to the user's profile to view their profile information.

  • The user should be able to click on the link to the user's profile to initiate a conversation with them.

Benefits

  • This feature would make it easier for users to reference other users in chat conversations.

  • This feature would make it easier for users to link to other users and initiate conversations or view their profiles.
