If Cisco exposes the Video Conference Endpoint (VCE) Proximity Service (Ultra High Frequency signal which identifies the VCE) as a customer facing API, then customers can write their own mobile device apps which allow users to send any SIP meeting links to VCE whereby user can then just click on a "join" button. Technical specifications/use case are as follows:
users walks into a room with their mobile device running customer-written mobile calendar/meeting app where user has authenticated (SSO/Azure AD/SAML)
Mobile app detects Proximity service running on Cisco VCE
Cisco VCE sends Webex Control Hub endpoint identification to the mobile app
Mobile app utilizes Webex Control Hub endpoint identification and Control Hub Hybrid Calendar API to sends SIP meeting link to Cisco VCE
Cisco VCE Touch Panel displays SIP meeting join link
User clicks on "join" link
The advantages of this solution over the native Webex solution include:
customers don't need to go through extensive security review and integration of Webex mobile app with customer mobile app infrastructure/identification-authentication
customers don't need to provision and manage Webex user licenses/accounts
