Use Cisco Desk Camera 4K as Video Source for Desks, Boards and RoomKits

I am writing to you on behalf of our educational institution, where we frequently utilize Cisco Devices, including the Desk Pro, Desk Mini, Boards and Room Kit Plus. In our academic setting, there is a regular need to showcase various materials such as experiments, architectural models, and drawings. Currently, we rely on a document camera connected to power and HDMI with the Room Kit, which is not the most convenient setup. Furthermore, this method is not feasible with the Desk Mini.

We propose an enhancement that could significantly benefit educational environments like ours: the integration of the Desk Camera 4K for live streaming. This camera, coupled with a lightweight USB-C cable and a versatile stand (be it a 3Pod, magnetic, or gimbal design), would allow us to stream content directly through the Desk Cam, instead of using the built-in camera. Such a feature would greatly enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of our presentations and educational demonstrations.

The ability to easily showcase detailed and dynamic content is crucial in an academic setting. The proposed feature would not only streamline our teaching processes but also enrich the learning experience of our students. We believe that incorporating this functionality into Cisco's existing devices would be a significant step forward in educational technology.

We hope you will consider this feature request as a valuable addition to your products, recognizing its potential to make a substantial impact in educational settings.

Thank you for considering our request.

The idea is interesting from a didactic point of view. In addition to direct instructional teaching scenarios, this is particularly exciting in the context of flexible teaching/learning scenarios. For example, group work or breakout sessions can be made more interactive, as smaller individual workstations can be used for hybrid scenarios. The device combination could also be loaned out due to its size and could therefore be used much more flexibly in terms of teaching.
