Since i first noticed the Custom Tab in Jabber i have seen many possible implementations for our market where Cisco has an advantage over it´s competitors. With the support for both Desktop and Mobile devices we can implement solutions for the customers to really give a complete solution in one client.
Unfortunately many of the solution has not been able to be used for our customers since Custom Tabs are not supported over MRA.
There is plenty of forum-posts and even a Bug CSCvc30041 regarding this.
More and more of our customer has moved to a more flexible working (from home and other sites) where the Jabber users are connected over MRA for most of the time. They need Custom Tabs working !
Today there are only a very limited HTTP-page that can be viewed over MRA. On-premise the Custom Tab are working fine.
With the Jabber 12.5 Beta there was a stretch-goal to have Custom Tab SDK that was removed and i don´t see Custom Tab on any Roadmap for 12.6 and beyond.
For our market the ability to use Custom Tabs over MRA is essential (for both Desktop and Mobile), since the customer often demand features to be used from "one" client/app. We can solve this by using Custom Tabs and meet the customers expectation.
