Allow the contact list to be reduced to icon

Allow the contact list to be reduced to icon only

There is a hard limit to how narrow the window can get. It seems that if the contact list in the left pane could be reduced to icon only the area for conversations would be maximized and still allow the application to fit in less than 1/3 of a standard screen size.
