How about a "Webex-Pad" ?

short:
an Android-Tablet, tailored and optimized for Webex but open enough to be used for other business-purposes (email, calendar...) too.

long:

facts:

  • Apple-Products are very common in the USA - but far less in other parts of the world

  • Apple-Products are expensive but the support is weak (no on-site support NBD etc.)

  • no competition in the market of business-tablets

  • edit: there are lots of video-conferencing-solutions out there - but AFAIK only Webex offers real conferencing hardware -> lets emphasise that, since...

  • edit: decision-makers are usually not interested in the fineprint, details about encryption and ease of configuration etc. Those people need "this is great stuff"-indicators which are easy to understand.

idea:

a tablet similar to the iPad Pro (size, pen etc.), but powered by (a Cisco-Version of) Android-One => at least monthly updates, perhaps even more depending on Google..

Why Android?
because the source-code is open it may be optimized by Cisco.

The OS is optimized for security and remote manageability (via Control Hub = MDM).
The Device offers a 4K WebCam and IR-Sensors that provide face recognition and depth of field-info to optimize blurred/replaced backgrounds.
The Device is available via Cisco Plus as HWaaS
The Tablet has a fail-safe-mode which allows "WEBEXing" with a limited number of (pre-configured) contacts in case of Software-issues.
The Device is built with screws - not glue -> Service
Add a Fingerprint-Sensor, NFC, GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BT, WIFI, 4G/5G (HW-module upgradeable?)

In addition there is a Dockingstation which will transform the Tablet to a "RoomKit - light" or "SOHO Roomkit" ?
this will change the GUI to a "touch-10"-like device, allows connection of one 4K-Screen (HDMI, DP or Miracast) and 1 external Camera (Webex-Deskcamera?)
Additional CPU-Power may be provided by the dock.
The Dock also offers WIFI and Ethernet (with POE for charging) and is also visible in the Control-Hub and allows to remotely manage (Upgrade, re-image, wipe etc..) the Tablet in case of issues that rendered the device unusable or the OS is completely trashed or the Device was replaced and the Company-Config needs to transferred onto the device.
Perhaps every replacement-Device (Onsite-Support NBD) is shipped completely empty? no OS, no Data...? (=> theft is pointless)
