Keep thread context open

Currently the way to reply to a thread in a space is by clicking the "Reply to thread" button on the thread to which a user would want to reply. The thread pop up closes as soon as the user performs the "Send" action on the thread. This is very in-efficient and lot of times leads to a broken thread and confusion.

I would like to request for a feature where in when the user clicks on the "Reply to thread" button the thread should open up either as a side bar within the same window or give the option to open the thread in a new window so the conversation on the thread can proceed without an interruption. It should be upto the user to close the thread and return to the space rather than closing the thread as soon as the user sends the reply to the thread by performing the "Send Message" action.

Threads need a permalink. And ability to star/save like in WhatsApp. COME ON.

I like the idea of having a thread open in a sidebar, since it allows people to cross-reference multiple conversations. The ability to "bookmark" threads would also be very helpful. Useful threads tend to get lost very shortly, and the "jump to replies" function only keeps the thread alive for so long.

Having threads that die after a few hours is unhelpful when there's a larger issue, and there's no way to "bump" a thread like there is on traditional online forums, so discussions typically die off or have information segmented across a dozen threads, which makes following a longrunning discussion nearly impossible.
