Support LDAP-Based Call Routing Natively in CUCM SME (Without CURRI)

A customer has two call control environments, Cisco CUCM and Skype/Microsoft Teams. Users have both a DID for the Cisco phone and a DID for the Microsoft phone. In addition, as expected, there are routing policies set for each environment that describe the privileges that each user possesses in order to place calls to local, national, and international destinations.

Since the privileges will be the same for each user in both environments, the hope is that an LDAP lookup can be used as a centralized policy server, whereby LDAP attributes would indicate the calling privileges of the user in question. In addition, these attributes could also be set to describe preferred SBCs for PSTN access.

This feature is available in Oracle Enterprise Communications Broker (ECB), which attempts to provide similar functionality to SME. The customer has indicated that the feature is important enough where it could push a migration to ECB in the near future.
