External microphone compatibility with iOS

I just came across an issue where an external microphone I had procured for using webex was not compatible with the webex iOS app. I tested the microphone using the built in camera, and the microphone works with the iPad, just not in the webex app. Is there a way to allow any devices compatible with an iOS device to be compatible with the webex app?
