We have customers looking for a way to mimic previous PBX behavior where they could give the callee a distinctive ring on calls that were detected to be internal. All other outside calls would not, and carry a known-standard ring.
The Alternate Numbers feature can provide a distinctive ring but requires a second extension. The need is not to have a second set of extensions but a distinctive ring on detection of an internal call from someone else within the same Enterprise. This way the outside callers can still utilize the same extensions they know, as well as keeping the Enterprise Directory true with the same information. (Right now if you search the Enterprise Directory for a user with an Alternative Number Extension, it will only show the primary one in the Application Server GUI,)
The internal-caller-detection point is important to avoid having to add or change extensions that both internal and external callers use.
Other Incoming Calls features have ways of detecting external calls and offer ways to alter their behavior. Often those sub-settings include phrases such as the following:
Any external phone number
Any phone number
From any phone number
What we're asking for here is something to the effect of a distinctive ring feature that offers an "Any Internal Number" type setting. Something that detects a caller match with the Enterprise Directory and then offers the distinctive ring based on that criteria.
The goal is to allow an internal & external caller to reach the same extension, but get different rings based on whichever of the two is calling. (Using Broadsoft, avoiding any direct phone configuration.)
EDIT: Priority Alert can be added to both User & Service objects which is very useful in this scenario. However, you cannot choose the ring which is one of the distinctions (pardon my pun) of this 'idea' where we're looking for a Distinctive Ring choice, versus a forced 'priority ring' style with no way of changing that style. (or without having to set it on the hardware, itself)

Post Script: If something like this does already exist in any version of Broadworks, just let me know. I just haven't been able to find something on this specific scenario. (We're currently running Broadsoft R24)
It would also be useful to be able to set a distinctive ring for all phones for emergency calls.
IE: you have an emergency auto dialer that calls into a call group from a specific exe. You want everyone in the call group to notice that important call by audio, and or visual ques.
