We are currently deploying several thousands of Cisco 88-series Phones as a part of our brandnew UC-environment. During the corresponding tests in turns out there is no other way to propagate the voice-vlan than via cdp/lldp. Both doesn‘t really fit our security-needs. This is because of we suggest to add the facility to deploy voice-vlan-id via dhcp-option.
The mechanism would be: 1. phone powers up initially, 2. phone receives vlan-id with first dhcp offer, 3. phone tags itself to this vlan and redo dhcp on this network, 4. phone receives correct voice-network-ip-address and registers itself to cucm.
