What is an Oil rig?

A rig is defined as any piece of equipment or machine capable of drilling a wellbore. An oil rig is built by drilling and inserting a tube through the earth’s surface, which can be done on land or at sea. Because a large portion of oil is found offshore, this offshore rig is critical. When compared to land, the sea has a much larger oil supply.

An oil rig is a manufacturing plant that is used to drill oil wells and natural gas extraction wells. A rig is a transitory structure since it is shifted to different areas if the oil supply in the rig location is reduced.

The offshore and onshore rigs would use the same equipment. There are various types of offshore rigs, and these rigs are chosen based on the depth of the water.
